Default DJTT instant gratification mapping article: Issue?

I followed through flashflooder's tutorial on mapping some of the IG style effects for my MPD26. After following the first portion of the video, regarding single button hold effects, I had an issue with the effect button staying active while holding. Everything works as it should if the effect that is being selected by the button is already on the fx unit, but if switching from a different effect in that bank the effect button will only momentarily activate until i release and press again. Even with only two commands (Effect X selector [button; Direct], Button X [Button; Hold]) the effect will not remain on. The MPD26 is on its own channel and no modifiers. I can't even think of anything else that's relevant. Any advice would be appreciated.

I see your point. Try adding 'FX Store Preset' command to your fx on buttons.

Thanks that did the trick. Do you think you could shed some light onto the "why"? Ive never used that command before and would like to avoid any possible unintended interactions before I get too far in this mapping. So is it saving all parameters in the chosen FX bank? What is the more obvious utility of this command? And will it affect manual effect selection ie. scrolling through with an X1? Basically any information or resource you could give me on this would be very helpful.

That command basically saves the effect's current state (On, Off, parameters) for the Unit/Mode that's assigned to. The more obvious or call it manual usage of this function is called the 'Save Snapshot' and can be found in the FX unit menu:
