    Default DDJ SX questions

    Hi there,

I am seriously considering buying a DDJ SX this week, but had a couple of questions about it. Would be GREAT to here back from you guys on this to get some last minute info.

    1. With the trigger pads, I see they can be used to make 8 hot cues, can they also be used to create manual loops from those points?

    2. The built in high/low pass filter in each channel - can the parameters for those be adjusted?

    thanks!

    W

    Hi,

I have a DDJ SX currently and within traktor the pads are hotcues, instant loops and two banks of instant effects. You could map that pads to have saved loops instead of hot cues. There is also manual looping control. The filters are hardware based I believe but I think you can route the audio through Traktor so you can use the different filter settings. Tbh they sound pretty great in the default setting.

With serato DJ, they have the functions as explained in the manual. They can be used for loop rolls of different lengths in that mode. But, SSL can't save loops and replay them the way Traktor can if that's what you're asking.

If you're asking if you can use them as loop-in points...yeah....if you're quick enough on the buttons.

I think the answer is "No".

It's a hardware feature of the mixer section, which is a hardware digital mixer, not a controller. Turning the knob changes b/t High-Pass and Low-Pass and affects the cutoff frequency. The resonance is fixed in the hardware. You can't assign them to anything else, and unless I'm mistaken, the knobs on the mixer don't send out MIDI or control data. You can't change the type of filter or how it works.

It's basically the same as the channel filter color effect on the DJM-800/850/900, just without the other color effects.

If you use it for traktor, you can customize it any way you want. I use my ddjsx2 with traktor and everything works flawlessly.
