Mounting moving heads.
I am in the process of designing my light show in DMX software because the sound active program causes me to get blinded by my moving head wash lights. (110 watt led rgbaw x8)
My solution was to mount them on top of the T-bar tripod and raise them up so they never shined down. If I were to hang them upside down they would cover the dance floor (and I could dim them for smaller crowds) but I would be limiting the range of motion because I would program them to not shine back at my booth. I was wondering if there is any reason why I can't "side-mount" these lights at 90 degrees so the feet of the light face back at me and when the light is pointed completely vertical in program it would shine at the far wall (instead of the ceiling or the floor)
When I google searched it all I found was some 12 year old DJ assuring me it was the best way to mount a moving head light in his YouTube video. A little more research revealed what is known as a side arm bracket.
What's the best way to go on this? These mini movers are heavy to lift by hand I was thinking of getting some air powered light stands so a new stand is not out of the question.
Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First thing I would do is check for a "range of motion" setting on the heads for when they are in Sound to light (I know some have this setting)
I used to side mount Moving heads on Vertical Truss bars with Dual G-Clamps (probably against h&S these days) . However I would not recommended side mounting for anything long term, the only legit reason I can really imagine to do it even short term is for targeting particular areas on a stage.
I believe the bearings on the heads will give out alot sooner that they would while hanging or standing due to the horizontal forces at play when the unit is in a stationary (or off) position.
IMHO theres very very little coverage you won't get from hanging them under with some fresh programming to keep the light out of your eyes and will be well worth it in the long term.

The only thing I can't do is light the ceiling which I think is an awesome effect. I would be using whatever mounting option I have for almost every show.
