Default Looking to switch from DDJ-SX2 to XDJ-RX. Good idea?

I'm a college student and can only afford to rent a limited space. I've only got one desk which is not big enough to hold a laptop and a controller, and I think it is kinda impractical since I have absolutely no idea on how to do the setup on such a study desk.

The XDJ-RX surely won't require me to connect the controller with laptop but flash drive. Good idea? Is it a great DJ system? Do you think that I can still sell my DDJ SX2 for decent price though?

Or you could get a laptop stand and have your computer taking virtually no space =)

please get a laptop stand. your back, eyes, arms, and skills will thank you later.

Also switching up depends completely on what you plan on doing. Is the xdj smaller? for added space? or is it just newer and better looking?

if you bother to know though.

    1. Added place as you mentioned
    2. I think it should somehow represent the CDJ system since it doesn't use laptop
    3. It's way more practical to only use an item, which is only the XDJ. Compared to using both controller and laptop at the same time.

lol it was sarcasm. Don't make the switch man. Just get a laptop stand and call it a day.

If you have the laptop already - just stick with the DDJ-SX2 and get a laptop stand.

If you don't have a solid computer or if you want to stop using the computer in your setup (and be more prepared for gigs using industry standard CDJs) - the XDJ-RX is the option to go with.

It's honestly a tough call. I have a Macbook Pro myself - and I opted not to get a controller but still use Serato with it for my 1200's. That being said if I were in your shoes it would depend a lot on if you're just spinning in your bedroom or if you're gigging on the regular.

If you're gigging on the regular - ditch the laptop. It's expensive, fragile, and the weak point of the setup. If you're just spinning in your bedroom - it doesn't matter. When you're carrying your laptop around shitty clubs and sketchy neighborhoods - it's best to leave it at home and just bring USB sticks instead.
