Mapping Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 to Ableton for simple drum rack control
Hi, hopefully this isn't in the wrong place. I'm super new to Ableton so sorry if this is a very basic question but I've searched Google and Youtube and played around and am totally stuck.
I'm a DJ making the first steps with production and trying to learn Ableton. Since I have my S4 MK2 controller sitting on my desk all the time I thought it would be cool to use the buttons for making beats and etc. in Ableton, and since people make MIDI controllers out of old gamepads and stuff I thought this couldn't be too hard.
I've got the S4 connected to Ableton, set to MIDI mode and configured the preferences, the indicator lights in the top right are flashing when I push the bottoms, and I am able to map to parameters using the MIDI on/off button in the top right. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to map the buttons to the notes of the drum rack, i.e. press the 1 on my S4 for a kick, the 2 for a snare, etc. It seems like you should be able to click those functions in Ableton but they aren't blue like the preferences. So I figure there is either something I totally don't get about how to map notes vs. parameters or something is up with my system. I've attached a screenshot of Ableton in MIDI mapping mode.

Any help or links to useful info is appreciated, thanks very much in advance!
