Could someone tell me the differences between Bass music and Deep house ?
Is it that Bass music has a slightly faster tempo and drum patterns that are a bit more complex ?
Bass Music has more sub bass than deep house in general. Lots of sub kick drums and the bass lines are usually upfront and low pitched. To be honest bass music is a pretty broad term but most of it in this thread is bass heavy house music allot of it with UK garage influence. Producers like 'Dusky' 'Justin Martin' 'midland' are examples that come to mind.
Deep House is generally jazzy downtempo house music think 'Moodyman' 'Detroit Swindle' 'MCDE'. I think Deep house is probably one of the most confused genres in dance music.
^I'm really into deep dubstep and deep drum & bass and I know sometimes people refer to those genres as bass music as well, especially deep dubstep.
I'm trying to get into genre and I went pretty far back into the thread and found some nice stuff. But if anybody could give me a list of like the anthems of the genre.
I'll also check out the producers you mentioned.
I agree with your entire statement, Loopcat. Especially when you said that Bass Music is a broad term. Because honestly, I don't think there is an actual genre, "Bass Music". It's just a term that has evolved from peeps not knowing what to call this introduction, over the past few or more years, to add massive amounts of Sub Bass to their productions. Having said that, to me, I have noticed lots of this referenced in Deep House lately. That's why I keep posting Deep House choons in this thread. I'm really feeling the afore mentioned Future/UK_Garage sound. So too, am I feelin' the Deep Dubstep that has been released over the past couple years. Though, I HATE the term, "Dungeon", that is used to describe it. The resurgence of Oldskool Hardcore and it's mutated offspring, Juke, has me especially excited lately as well.Bass Music has more sub bass than deep house in general.
