according to the manual, once you plug in a usb drive you can then hook up your iPhone/droid so it will simply display all the usb's files and playlists so you can actually search and scroll from the phone and drop tracks to the decks even though all the files exist on the usb drive and not the phones, for me, thats a great feature, turns the Aero's tiny screen into an iPhone or iPads sized screen. Can you test this and let us know how it works, maybe shoot some vide
from the manual:
Loading tracks from mobile devices or computers via wireless LAN
1 Connect the mobile device or computer to this unit via wireless LAN.
2 Launch rekordbox on the mobile device or computer and establish the link.
3 Operate rekordbox on the mobile device or computer to select the track.
4 Operate rekordbox on the mobile device or computer to select the deck on which the track is to be loaded, then tap or click.
yeah, just did with my ipad. will make a video and upload on youtube tomorrow![]()
awesome! thank you!!
the more i look at this the more i want it, the whole concept of "no laptop" djing again seems really fun again
the only thing that bothers me is rekordbox itself, its so unstable! first, after updating to 1.6.2 it shifted ALL my beatgrids slightly to the left (why? anyone else experience this too?)
and on OSX Lion 10.7.4 sometimes when i try to open rekordbox it would crash
Setup:
Traktor Pro 2 / S2 MK2 / X1 MK2 / Audio6 / Pioneer HDJ2000 / Westone UM3X / rMBP 13 inch 2014 (2.8 GHz) / Focal Alpha 50
i have not experienced the problems you have zilch, my only problem with rekordbox is that its operating time is slow.
I really don't think except for mobile djs this has much appeal. I would love to play a wedding or sweet 16 on this gear, there is less to drag around, stream from my tablet with the phone acting as a router. I would rather have solid DJ software and more buttons to DJ a set of dance music. I haven't seen an all in one unit yet that really truly fits the bill of computer, controller and software, although this probably comes closest.
I think some people will appreciate to have the xdj aero as a backup, for bar/friends/small gigs.
It's nice to have something small and portable which you can play from just using your rekordbox USB.
When you play at the clubs you use their gear with rekordbox USBs.
I believe this will appeal to alot of people that doesnt have similar gear at home or place for cdjs and 4 channel mixer.
Also I believe the focus on the WiFi feature is too big, it's just a "bonus" but for sure with great potential.
The real big news is that its standalone, play direct from usb stick and with a nice record feature which will appeal
to people who want to get in to the club scene.
For those who already are there and perhaps have 4 channel mixer with tt's this might be what they are looking for when
they don't want to lug their gear to gigs where there is no equipment installed.
cool video FINALLY, u can plug in a usb drive but use the iPad or phone to control it all, even using the scroll knob on the player controls the iPad for browsing, pretty sick. watch this video but start at about 12 minutes in, thats where he gets into it, hopefully added to future cdj2000
