what's the point of paying so much for a x-y pad cos theres a xone brand name on a controller. when there's dope ipad apps around to do different jobs for traktor and more within a single ipad unit. the novelty is all there.

I mean mapped right and all you need is that thing to play. I wonder if they will release mapping for it with traktor and serato? It would be interesting to see how they intend people to possibly use it. I forsee mapping thread coming out for this soon!
I just got an X1 too. I'll probably use just this and the X1. K2 mapped as a 4/2deck mixer with midifighter style effects, and X1 as a normal effects controller.

The durability, having one integrated controller system all hard wired through xlink without having to tether or set up an ad hoc network and do midi over network. I have no problem using touchosc like I do now, but if there was a hardware controller in this system that I could just plug in and have the durability and form factor of a xone controller some people would prefer it.

but then again i thought you said in a different thread that having cables and stuff is a fuss and another hardware or even with the x link is still a 'hassle' to bring. just my two cents worth of thoughts

about 160quid and then the case is about another 35quid. thats the prices i've been seeing on ebay for new items anyway.

so this K2 is basically the same AND has builtin sound! win!

i suspect they will sell a few of these, i definately want one.

had been thinking of picking up a X1 but soooo glad i didn't, esp as i need a soundcard and didnt need another tp2 license

I wonder what the official mappings will be like, and whether DJTT (Ean) will make a custom mapping. Considering there isn't much marking on the controls, only the letters on the bottom pads, there is huge potential for some crazy 4 deck madness!

It sounds like the "layers" are hardware modifiers like the hotcue or shift button on the X1, so these, combined with shift and other modifiers there is massive potential.

i don't suppose official mapping will matter too much for something like this. everyone will want it mapped differently.

and with so many people psyched about the form factor and price point there should be stacks of people coming up with mappings.

oddles of potential for sure, esp with the obvious (i hope) builtin layers. they have actually been doing their research on what people actually want - makes a nice change

Reckon the fader caps will be easily swapped? And does anyone know anywhere to get decent ones? I'm not liking that style too much, I prefer standard mixer style caps.

true - looks more like fader caps from a mixdown deck as opposed to a dj one. highly unlikely you wouldn't be able to find different ones to fit.

must admit i'd probably want to change those too, but i quite like changing pot covers etc on my mixers. seems to be one area that's often skimped on - and simple enough to fix yourself. i changed the pot covers on my lpd8+idj+djm101+hercmk2. fader caps tend to be much simpler to change.
