Ean - thanks again for all the hard work. What do you think about picking a second controller to work along with the vci-100se for the effects in Traktor Pro. Maybe a korg nanoKONTROL or Kenton Killamix mini (a bit pricey.) It seems if the djtt community could decide on a se companion it would be great for all concerned.

Personally I'm thinking of investing in the Akai MPD24 in the near future for when I get Traktor Pro. It has the pads to cue juggle or play with loops and the extra knobs for using with the extended effects that will be available. This will free up some more controls on my VCI to use how I see fit.

I had the akai mpd16 and it was a nightmare to use. The mapping software crashed my computer constantly and it would forget its settings often, forcing me to reload my preferences. I also remember it conflicting with other controllers I was trying to use at the same time. Maybe akai has improved the drivers and software since then, but I'd check into it before you dump the money!

As many users.. I have the M-Audio Trigger Finger for the same purposes (Cue/Loops/Beat Juggling) so far no problems at all... except when I upgraded to Vista... It worked the first two weeks.. Updated to SP1 and it failed to work due to drivers.

Hopefully the drivers will come out (anytime).

I traded in my MPD24 for a TriggerFinger because the rotary encoders are not rotary encoders at all! instead of sending incremental data, they maintain a position which is displayed on the screen, only not all the time! so what you get is a bunch of knobs (not encoders) which you can't visually see what value they are sitting at.

Though I have the TriggerFinger, half the knobs are not in use, half are for gain, which would work better as an encoder on a focus deck. I use the sliders for key control which I would rather use a 2 octave keyboard for (any users who know how to hack this?).

I must say, I recommend the PadKontrol because of the fact it has lights. Lights on pads can be very beneficial.
