Yer I live in Manchester, Im at uni here, and your right about FAC251 and the 3 times Ive been there is no sign of indie. When I went they had cheesy shit pop on the ground floor, which TBH they probably think is indie, RnB/Hip Hop on the middle floor and Dubstep upstairs. The only time that club has any indie coming out of it is when they have a live band on who play indie music.

Dont get me started on 5th ave either, its supposed to be an indie club but since when was RATM or Fedde Le Grand indie, they just play top40 and sing along tunes all night. Im not saying I love indie but it seems in Manchester indie means pop.

I went to Fac251 to see Hudson Mohawke and stuck about afterwards, had a really good time. Stayed on the first floor all night mind... Can't beat classic R&B and soul, with a bit of hip hop thrown in for good measure!

Yer I like it, but I dont think advertising it as an indie club is 100% accurate is all im sayings!

If theres one thing i know about Indie clubs (and ive run one for 12years) is that Manchester is the worst place for Indie clubs.

The Home of Indie is shit at Indie.

They seem to have got stuck in a groove around the time that the Smiths split up.

5th Ave and 42nd Street are terrible. The playlist hasnt changed in 15 years.
I regularly get people from Manchester compaining that they just ignore a lot of the more recent Indie bands. I think you might be lucky to hear anything as modern as The Libertines.

Indie clubs have changed a lot in the last 3 years. A lot have incorporated pop and dance to pad the night out for people who kinda like indie but arent real Indie kids.

Since the arse fell out of the Indie scene its done what it always does and goes more commercial and just waits for the next big Indie wave.

It pisses me off cus my DJing roots are in Indie.
