beat masher or beat slicer?

Jester is full of shit the crowd loves it when you crank the beatmasher to max and the slicer to glitch!

If I am messed up enough I do that but I start out with careful dry/wet settings

On normal occasions and when I'm in the mood for advanced effects I use the Slicer but in chained mode I find the Slicer to be a little weak. Usually I prefer to use effects in chain mode, though, just for the sake of quickness and effectiveness. So more often I go for the Masher which works alright in a chain.

Not a fan of the slicer. Maybe because I have the masher pretty much mastered. I find the slicer to random??? I use it cue juggling when I use my midifighter, but thats it. I find its only good on vocals, but I also like mashing on vocals because I know what I want to hear and I can make the sounds I want easily.

I think alot of people may have tried to slicer but only in chained mode which is where it sucks massive hairy balls. You need to use it in advanced mode if you want it to sound good. Only really use it on lyrics or drums because it will murder pretty much anything else.

I find it's best to experiment on my own what bits of a good song sound good for the slicer and at what settings then play that out. Never gamble on the slicer it'll just go wrong

maybe it's because i use the xy of the nanopad i prefer the slicer? found the 'sweet spot' for doubling up snares, then a quick tap of the hold button for 4 beats just to tickle things a bit.
also good for sampling, then chewing up scratching as well

slice in chained is shit though.

With the beatmasher....it basically cuts a 4 beat loop (knob at zero) then as you turn it up....it makes the loop shorter.

The slicer is a bit different and it shifts the sliced beats around a bit.

I have not mastered the slicer yet.

Beatmasher is good for drum rolls etc, and quick fills.
I love to use the slicer for layering incoming tunes. Loop the incoming drums, find an interesting setting, then bring that in over the old track. Adds a bit of spice to 4/4 sets definitely...

and good for mixing out, set it to 8 beat loop, hold a clean loop, mix in next track, then mess with settings.

Both, they do pretty different things. I find the beat slicer is sometimes a bit too crazy so I just rip some masher.
