I tried looking for the video of the people climbing the fence at Woodstock but couldn't find it before I lost interest.

Comparing the dynamics of Altamont and EDC is apples and oranges. Though both apparently had their issues with planning and organization, Altamont was a direct result of drug and alcohol abuse. The kids in the video appear to be herding out of frustration from a horribly designed entrance model to the main stage.

    EDIT:
I would hope local ordinances drawn from this event (if they in fact are) reflect more the need to insure organizers have a sensible model of crowd control, entry and egress--not the fact it is any particular type of event, i.e Rave.

Those kids were rushing the stage. They did not have tickets to the area they were trying to get to. That's why they were jumping the fence.

Actually, the tickets clearly stated that access to the main floor was not guaranteed. Those kids are just cunts. We have alot of dumbass kids in LA that seem to think rushing fences and rioting is OK at festivals. I blame bad parenting and budget cuts in the education system. I would love to see EDC become an 18 and over event from now on. I'm sick of seeing children roaming around in their underwear.

No amount of budget cuts in education (nor raises) can affect the principles of children. The indoctrination going on in our schools is...unsettling. My kids would never be allowed to go to an event like this until they are at least 18 or have displayed enough wisdom to make sound decisions.

Nonetheless, what a horrible way to plan an event with limited access to a main stage. That is begging for a disaster.

Don't even get me started on bad parenting. My son will be an Eagle Scout soon, my daughter is a straight A student and neither one of them likes pop music. So I've done a good job with my kids that started when they were born so now they get some freedom. That said I wouldn't let them go to anything like this without me.

This just reminds me of Reading Festival in the UK, which is rock/pop rather than EDM but you still get all this shit. Im sure some of the UK guys on here will have been to Reading/Leeds, the last night is usually epic carnage. The shit I have seen go down is unbelievable. Some of it is fair game and I get involved but then other stuff is too far. For example I was just randomly roaming around and this guy comes up to me in the middle of one of the main throughfares and goes, Im gonna start a fire. So I was like OK cool, I watched that fire grow from a piece of cardboard till the toilets were on fire. In my mind this was pretty funny, but then you get other twats throwing gas bottles on fires and people getting properly fucked up. I think a lot of these events often see a backlash from kids against authority. Where else but a festival can a bunch of teenagers fight back against the police/security!
