Hi all,

I'm a little frustrated. I was under the impression mapping this controller would be easy but I just spent a long time playing with all the parameters in TSP and at the end of it all, nothing responds to the buttons on the controller. First, is there by any chance a .tsi already for this controller that will play with the effects. I simply want to merge the .tsi with taht of the basic Vestax VCI 300 controller so that I can use it as my decks/mixer and then the Nano as my effector. It all sounds so easy but I'm not the experienced with .tsi files.

I hate to be CPT Obvious but is your nano on the same midi channel as what's specified in the tsi you are using?
I don't own a nano but...this was just a thought :/

Make sure you're setting up the type of controller and interaction mode correctly. All the buttons should be button then toggle or hold and the faders and knobs should be set to fader/knob and relative.

Thanks guys...I will check the things you mentioned when I get home tonight. On another note, is there not by any chance a .tsi file already made by someone that I can simply merge with the basic VCI 300 .tsi and be on my merry way??

stealing this thread instead of making a new one

so i'm about to buy a X1 as my first controller (getting it cheaply) and i realise i need some sort of mixer...well i thought about using the nanoKontrol for it

knobs would be EQ+gain (1-4 for A/C and 5-8 for B/D)
the buttons next to the knob would be kill for that range
2 faders would have to be volume faders (not sure which 1 and 5?)
the last fader would be my crossfader

1. would that work and how harp is it gonna be to map?
2. is it worth it over sth like the M-Audio X-Session Pro? It's cheaper at least and i think i get some added functions like kill + gain
3. what to do with the rest of the faders and buttons?

I have a nanokontrol map to control effects, loops and "beatjump/move" on the Scene 3 and to control EQ, EQ kill, FX Slot On, sync/master and volume on Scene 1
I have two nanoKontrol because I don't like to change scenes or to use shift button...
Do you wanna try it?

I rock 5 Nano Kontrols (4 decks and 1 as a "master" for various functions) and 4 Akai LPD8's for my effects units.

Best and most functional set up for under $400. It gives you instant access to all key functions, plus it's cake to set up loop and beat grid points with a few button presses.

Just make sure the Nano is on it's own Midi channel (need to download the Nano editor to change it to a different channel on the hardware) and make sure Traktor recognizes the Nano. First two things I would check.

Think that's a brilliant idea actually, the Nano Kontrol is perfect for what you're looking to do. As for what to do with the rest of the button/faders you can map out a number of features to them. You can set them up to drop and store cue/load loop points, macro various things to a single fader (like mapping three volume faders to a single fader so you have a "solo" mode for example) and so on. Once you start playing you'll soon learn what would work best for you're style of mixing and what would help to make it more efficient.

5 nanos would be awesome
I mix with 2 channels only...
So an Oxygen plus 2 nanos is enough for me...
I'm thinking in give up my internal mixing to use the house mixer and at home I think to buy a DDM4000, but to do that I need around $500 bucks to buy a Firewire 8-out interface and the DDM...

heh ddm 4000 would be the perfect solution but the price is a bit too high atm
but you cal alway upgrade to 2 X1 and a ddm 4000 later, but if i ever go that route i think i'd spend a little more and get a xone 42 for the filters and all the nice stuff on it
