Yeah, I think that's the thing that riles me enough to actually waste my time to post: the personal nature of attacking Ean directly, and this weird irrationality about the nature of "real" djing. So what about turntablists or vinyl djs that "kept it real" for years, and then made a conscious decision to move to controllers or add controllers to their set-up? Do they become "microwave" suddenly, losing all of their knowledge, skills, and style? How ridiculous is that? Grrr...
@Pilmat: you made a really amazing point that I wish I'd thought of, about what people's opinions would be with only the audio to listen to. Spot-on. Just goes to show how superficial and lame the whole conflict is.
@nemOnic: Just read your last post, man. That really says it all. I will no longer be tracking that thread, the responses to your post really show the caliber of those participating. They won't give it up, so I'm happy to. I've got some next level sh*t I need to attend to

I probably should have just kept my mouth shut, but my skin crawls when I see that kind of stuff. I find it as ironic as a hipster wearing a BUSH FOR PRESIDENT T-shirt. The fact that most of them don't see the irony kills me.

That said, I wouldn't try and paint the whole community with the brush of a few stupid posters. Those kind of threads generally bring out people who base their opinions on bravado instead of facts.

I'm persoanlly to the point where I dont even give shit what anyone thinks anymore. At first I kind of did, but these people are just afraid of change and afraid they are gonna be left behind in the dust.

A little bit off topic but I've got a question about Serato. So they say they don't use sync but since they know the bpm of what track they're transitioning into, aren't they just dropping it on time and if it's off, lining it up? I've never learned how to beatmatch, never played on turntables before but I can do that with no problem.

I've never bought Turntables because a) I can't afford them and b) It just doesn't seem like the right path. I'm 17, the people around my age (myself included) will be the future of DJing in the end. I highly doubt that in 5-10 years people are still going to be this biased against what tools you're using to make your magic. Controllers will be accepted the same way CDJs were. It's just a matter of time.

Have you ever bought a record of any type? Nothing wrong if you haven't, I'm just curious. I'm also curious to know the average age of the guys protesting controllerism versus the controllerists.

Re: Serato. It should be noted that the biggest feature request from users moving over to Traktor is side by side waveforms, as this makes 'visual mixing' of tracks easier.

You did the right thing. So did Zac, so did I and all the other guys from here that posted.

Yes, its futile but sometimes it needs saying.

You go in, you say your piece (and we all did very eloquently and without malice) and then you get out and if theres a shit-storm then there is a shit-storm.

Im glad this community stuck up for Ean and just as importantly what we all do as DJs because as i pointed out, i bet the members of that Forum were thinking "fuck, these members of our forum can be such dicks" and we all look like pros who arent there for a battle but to put a valid point forward.

Seems like the thread has calmed down and some of the better members are speaking up so maybe, just maybe we had an effect however small and fleeting.

Now maybe its time to leave it alone and let it wither on the vine but make no mistake the DJTToolers that spoke up did the right thing.
