Agrees, teaming up with Faderfox only adds up to one thing, expensive commercial marketing.

Wow I can't believe everyone is so down on the faderfox design; to me that was a big plus given their reputation for quality. (And I actually like the look of the faderfoxes, though I agree that the buttons are a little too tiny, especially for rapid button-pushing). I think this thing looks pretty cool myself though the price is a deal-breaker, at least until I win the lottery. And sure they could have saved space by more efficient use of buttons, but the whole point of the thing seems to be to provide detailed control over every feature. My VCI-100 uses space more efficiently, but it's a lot harder to use 4 decks and 4 effects banks when you can only see and adjust 2 and 1 at a time. Of course, the downside to such tailored hardware control is, like I wrote earlier, the software will evolve quickly and the hardware will immediately seem obsolete -- no control over the sampler and outdated loop controls.

This thing has gone from a must-have to completely pointless in a matter of months... how disappointing.

Faderfox make brilliant, sturdy and good quality midi controllers, but they're speciality is that they're portable. The 4MidiLoop is supposed to be a 4 deck controller in a normal sized mixer case - so why did Faderfox make all the controls so stupidly small? The prototype was absolutely fine as it was!

A funny thing about the prototype... did anyone notice how a lot of the controls looked like they were taken from the Faderfox range of controllers? I guess the tie-up makes more sense now...

Oh, and anyone thinking about buying one of these - I'll make you something similar (but better) for less than 1000 euros!

Maybe is time to do it! (there is a post about it here in DJTT)

    FUGLY!

Kinda figured this would happen working with fader fox....

Disapointing coz the proto looked so dope, this thing is way over the top...

I find it surprising that so many folks on this forum don't get this controller. Though I personally prefer a more modular setup - analogue mixer, soundcard, MIDI controller - I'd strongly consider using something like this.

    - low power consumption
    - high end faders
    - near 1 to 1 control of all parameters
    - reasonable weight and footprint

Sure the design aesthetic is a little odd, but hey - if this does the job I don't give a shit. Besides, the fact that it mirrors the on-screen layout of Traktor and offers access to control without six million modifiers and shift layers is great.

The price is prohibitive but you pay for quality.

As for controlling the forthcoming sampler ... there's an absolute shitload of buttons on the thing. Remap!

    1) Low power consumption -
It's a midi controller ... with virtually everything being bus powered these days this is not really significant.
    2)High end faders -
Once again its a midi controller, there is no audio going through those faders, sure nice faders feel nice, but in this case its total overkill, except of course for the cross fader.
    3)near 1-1 control
This just makes it cluttered - this really comes down to personal preference, but I for one like to keep it clean, this is where shift modifiers are great, as the least used functions can still be accessed but without impacting the layout and size of the more important controls.

Tbh I think the price is pretty reasonable considering the high production cost of a small batch controller such as this - especially with a CNC alloy case. That still does not make it affordable ...

Sure, but then you lose the specific advantage of this controller over others, which is full control over every option in a place that makes intuitive sense.
