For those of you who actually understand midi mapping (I do not unfortunately) this discussion about HD Midi might be of interest.

Also Traktor 1.2.7 has been announced but it doesn't seem to help our cause or does it?

    TTT for the 300.

I'm gonna start collecting a fund to donate to Flash and the team for their time. We REALLY need something that works on the 300

To give everyone an update, I did spend a good amount of time over the weekend and the past few days working up a mapping for the VCI-300. It is basically done but I have a few final things to flesh out. I hope to upload it here for you guys to test out in the next day or so.

And to clarify, I haven't consulted Ean on the mapping design yet so there are no promises as to whether it would ever be released as a DJTT supported mapping/overlay combo. Either way though, I hope it's decent and ends up being good enough to dj with so those who want to make the switch to Traktor can confidently do so.

    Flash,

I think us 300 users have to realize that the 300 will have limitations in comparison to the 100 that has more buttons and knobs. I’ll stick to my guns and say that I think the 300 will work best with a second controller, but that many of the basic be mapped well on the 300 without a bunch of shift buttons. For me personally I think a good 300 mapping would have the stander first layer of functions that the 100 has and that is already layed out on the 300 for Itch. Volume, Play, Sync, Hot Cues, Loop Activate, (shorter longer), Filter, Gain, etc. Then much like the 100, press a button and you can control of these functions for decks C&D.
Agreed! Having all the basics in a single layer (TSI), with say 5 hot cues, (similar to Robin's TSI), plus an easy way to control all four decks (with one VCI-300) would be fantastic.

Don’t know how you would map presets though. Lastly, fader FX would be great. I think if I was using a second controller (an X1) to control loops, effects, decks CD, etc but could use the 300 for fader FX it would be a sweet rig.
Agreed! I also think a 2nd device is probably better for F/X control, but a 2nd layer (=2nd TSI?) with additional FX control would be great for those that need it also.

Wouldn't it be best if those especially familiar with mapping all worked together on the same TSI's perhaps? The idea of a layer for each set of functions (= multiple TSI's?) seems like a good one, then we could mix and match perhaps? (forgive the pun).

    tasty!

    Really appreciate your efforts Flash.

Speaking of the overlay. I know that I mentioned this before but I think that a reconfigurable overlay would be best. (Removable vinyl labels perhaps? or maybe a clear plastic overlay with re-writable white-board insert?) As long as the overlay itself looks good/professional, it would serve a dual purpose anyway. IE; Protecting the unit and allowing anyone to use whatever custom mappings they want without having to remember where everything is, which would help instructors/teachers also.

Flash, thats awesome news man. Count me in to test it out and if there's anything I can do to help let me know.

    Commentor,

We'll see what flash comes up with and then try to add or adjust. Like I said i think you really need a second controller to maximize what Traktor can do when using the 300 --- but I think there are enough things the 100 can do great that can be done on the 300. If we use two .tsi for per layer we'll just have to communicate and all use the same modifiers. It could work.

    Sounds great flashflooder,

I'm looking forward to the youtube video demonstating how smoothly it works and then you not turning around and saying its for your personal use only.
But seriously, your hard work is appreciated by all here. Sharing is caring.

    Thanks
