the radio stations are just terrible and theres no new music ever. have to go to austin to get cutting edge anything.
I started clubbing before I went to UT, but I definitely matured there. Then I left the states and realized what a small bubble (electronic-musically) Austin was in. Some great tunes back then, but there was a lot of stuff that never made it. Buying online has done away with that for the most part now though.

Just a couple of hiphop oldskool guys fooling around. To those who are very deeply involved in the hiphop culture for years, the meaning of DJ is totally different to anyone elses anyway.
Don't know if owning 80s hiphop vinyl qualifies anyone as a DJ. My sister has a few, she's no DJ(ane).
Gotta agree with Karlos on the fact that "brrrrap"-shouting guys in white sunglasses who glorify old gemini mixers aren't the kind of people that should be able to decide whether anyone could consider oneself as a DJ or not.
Anyway, let em have their fun. Heck, if anyone would take the "You know you're a DJ when..."-thread somewhere in this forum seriously, there would be some complaining around the interweb.

oh yah, dont get me wrong... texas in and of itself is behind the times when it comes to edm (dallas has somewhat of a scene from what i hear too). austin just sits so far above other texas cities when it comes to newer edm (sxsw fest comes to mind).

mcallen, strangely enough, has a lot of musical depth to it in regards to edm.

doesn't matter how many 80's hip hop vinyl you have, that's no excuse for the misuse of 'i.e'
