Like previous time, the HTC Desire is my preferred weapon of choice.
I have recently rooted my phone by making use of unrevoked, than I upgraded my radio firmware followed by installation of the Psychosis Clean LP 5.0, which is based on latest Cyanogen(mod). It delivers a non branded Android 2.2 Froyo.
The phones that come with Android are more affordable than the iPhone, so that's one part. More and more development is being made on AndroidOS apps.
For the time being the iPhone is better with MIDI and sound apps, though MIDIfinger and a few other apps are starting to look promising.
