Not that my opinion has much weight, as a noob lol...but traktors layout as it is already is much more user friendly looking then Seratos or any other software ive seen. i love the fact that the waveforms are horizontal...what i am hoping the new software will do is store loops or samples, like it does with cues, with the tracks you want so you dont have to load 10 different "tracks" to mix one song

I want a button that blows up everyone who thinks Serato is better!

i cringe at the thought of traktor going through some radical overhaul like vertical waveforms just so it's more like a another dj software entirely.

small improvements to what the software already does well should take precedent over trying to make it a bastardized knock off of Serato or Ableton.

SSL IMO has become what traktor djs used to love before all the major changes to Traktor Pro. We lost a lot of things since Pro was introduced. Since then serato has added midi, fxs, & the bridge.

Im not forcing anyone to love serato.

fair enough, wasn't trying to be a dick - just seems like something like that would really polarize users because it would be such intense change.

i'm with you on Traktor Pro though, sure it offers a lot of new features but it dropped some key features from T3 that i can't live without which is why i still use Traktor 3.
i've voiced my opinions about that on the NI forums and it's more often that not been a pointless exercise, everyone's workflow with the software is different so naturally not everyone misses the things about Traktor3 that i love.

the thing is, it should be an OPTION, that way it does no harm if you dont want to use it, and only good for those that want it

i wish that traktor would have an option to have have either, vertical or horizontal waveforms side by side as an extra. like down the middle where the gain + filter is

This is the way I see it. Programatically, there should be no difficulty in making a few different layouts and letting the user decide. Right now, there's basically 2: Standard, and the minimized one (which is not that useful to me since I need to see the cues area).

However, it really comes down to how well it's coded. A problem of ongoing projects is sometimes certain things are not coded generically. If the layout is not separated from the main GUI component then overhauling it is indeed that -- an overhaul.

But, NI's stuff seems to be made pretty solid (even if they've got some quirks I find somewhat unacceptable). Rekordbox is the true piece of shit.
