Thread: Any Good VSTs?

One of my personal favorites is a virtual instrument called Omnisphere.

It is a Spectrsonics product from Eric Persing. If you are not already familiar with Eric Persing's work in sound, it is (to say the least) very interesting. I always liked Eric's work even when I didn't realize it was him... (He was the Lead Sound Engineer for all the Roland sounds I fell in love with).

The company Spectrasonics puts out some remarkable products.

Here is also a link to some artists that use Eric's sounds... you may want to view the list to see if you like any of their music as some of it was made with Spectrasonic instruments... http://www.spectrasonics.net/companyinfo/users.php

Maybe this is more towards the production end of things, but there are no rules in this place is there? =)

roughly speaking, they all do more or less the same function just different ways and come with different preset patches.

best thing is to do get a good understanding of how to program synthesizers yourself to create your own patches, instead of relying on synth+preset collecting. making your own patches is what'll really give your music it's own characteristic.

    One more to add...

I don't know if this counts, but my top-pick at the moment will have to be the Virus TI. It acts and functions exactly as a software virtual instrument and can be used in any VST, AU, or RTAS host... it only requires the hardware though. All processing is done off the Virus TI hardware vs. using your CPU power... made by Access in Germany.

Can say enough good things about this device and their software/upgrade support policy is A+.

But most importantly, it's pure sonic bliss! =)
