We don't know how the Maschine integration is actually done - it is possible that the mechanism used will allow other extendability too. In fact, it is mentioned that the whole FX section will be much more capable:

Use the expanded effects section like an external effects unit and even sync up with gear such as MASCHINE to create powerful set ups for stage and studio.

as per the 8+ cue points with shortcuts/direct access, I think this

is one of the best possible ways to have it. Meaning, you'll still be able to have up-to 8 hot cues for direct access, but if Traktor can allow you to have several SETS of 8s, it would be awesome. For one purpose you can use 8, for a different another 8 and so on ... I like it, it's like pages of cues - a very smart way to manage,what would otherwise be difficult!
Just give a +1 on the feature request if you like it.

... and overal, with the limited info available, TP2 already sounds like a Major release. I definitely don't agree with your statement that it all seems minor - it's not ...

You can have 4 decks (no sample decks) or 3 decks, 1 sample deck or 2 decks, 2 sample decks with S4. The sample decks replace C& D basically.

BTW, with the TP2, it will be that all/any of the 4 decks can be converted to a sample deck. A total of 16 sample slots max.

It would be good if they've made a midi-assignable shortcut to change the deck type. Going through preferences every time is not the best option (as is on S4)

the ability to add a fully routable external fx loop to integrate my kaoss pad into traktor would literally make me cream my pants.

That alone would be with the price of upgrade imho.

I don't understand why they're so adverse to the idea of VSTs, sure some can cause instability, but thats the users problem, not NI's, and high end VSTs like the new Stutter Edit and The Finger are very stable.

You can already do that by saving a new layout setup and assigning a midi command to switch between them.

the layout can hide/unhide/change the layout of the decks, but does not change the deck flavor.

I'm saying that it'd be nice to have midi shortcut to change the "Deck Flavor" - Track Deck / Sample Deck / Live Input. I don't see this working through the layout manager, do you?
