Default Need Modding Adivce) Hercules MP3 E2 Jogwheels

    Hello everyone,

I just have a quick modding question about the Hercules Mp3 E2.

I'm wanting to do a custom paint job and add some leds but I can't figure out how the Jogwheels can be removed.

They have that soft rubbery stuff covering the top and there aren't any screw holes underneath the console that look like they would be holding the Jogs on.

On a side note, wtf? Hercules makes a look alike MP3 E2 with a soundcard built in?

    Many thanks,
    Digi

You will need to open the bottom to get access to the jog wheel installation.

It is the custom at Hercules to have a controller with soundcard and one without based on the similar configuration (Rmx and Steel, MK2 and original MP3). If you think about it, it's a nice way to do things since the development is already done for one, so it's not too hard to simply remove the soundcard.

So you have hands on experience with this topic? Is there anyway you could specify which screws I'm looking to remove within the console?

Oh that's The Hercules DJ Console Mk4! I thought it would have had the Mp3 e2 name. Sucks I missed that midi, instead I bought the Mixtrack.

OR you could keep that extra money plus the amount you could've earned while doing the mod, and buy a good controller (then later mod that one)... SCNR.

I like the Hercules Mp3 E2, its a good controller for me and what I do with Traktor. I travel alot so it just the right size. I bought the Mixtrack thinking I would like it better but I didn't. Like I said I shoul've bought the MK4. All that is besides the point though.

Looking at the bottom of the at the circuit board, I can see the post for the Jogs. But there aren't any screws to remove them. Just screw to take off the board, but I can't because the Jogs Lip hits the top cover.

The jogs post does have a locking pin in a U shape. But I'm kinda afraid to pop it off

And of course I get it all apart, and my cam is dead. Sorry can't post pics, maybe later .

i got tired of the metallic faceplate on my rmx but didn't wanna potentially fuck it up.

i eventually got annoyed with it and took it apart.

the rmx has magnets around the jogwheel posts to supposedly adjust how much the platter spins. (i really didn't see it making any difference)

i took off those little locking pins and realized that those magnets would in fact hold the jogs in. i can even turn the controller upside down and the jogs don't fall out.

    .
on mine, after i removed the pins, the jogs were able to be removed. i couldn't get the pins back on so only do it if it has magnets built in. if it doesn't have magnets, i don't know how you would secure the jogs back in place.

if you have a webcam, and you could photograph the under-side of the controller, that would probably make it more clear.

Plan B is to have a thin piece of acrylic plastic cut by me or a shop, kinda like a overlay. Then just paint that. But its not really worth the price given the console and I don't know how it would affect button pressing.

    Kinda bummed.

That sucks, did you try putting them back on with pliers? I'll post pics tomorrow btw.

side note, Take a look at my previous post time and your reply time? doesn't make much sense 0.o
