You can't seriously call this software cheap. Just think that NI is going to milk you for around $100 every time they add another feature. With the limited improvements they put into each iteration, it'd be quite expensive to be running Traktor. I guess that sync button is worth it to some of you guys? :-p
Serato drops upgrades FOR FREE, so your software can still have that new feature smell 2 years from now. Sure, the hardware is mad expensive, but it's solid and can take a beating. MIDI mapping is so easy a child could do it. Click what you want to control, push the button you want to control it with. Colored waveforms? Awesome, but old news. Want to lend your friend your S4 for 2 weeks? Can you even (leagally) do that without him having to buy software? I have TSP, I can plug in on most other DJ's systems and play my set seamlessly. Does Traktor let you do that? (Honest question) I don't understand the rabid fanboyism with Traktor, it's a big reason I'm not on these forums much anymore. I just don't understand the hype, seems like those Apple fanboys that paid $500 for the iPhone.
Thing is, I'm looking for a system to go with currently, but I'm not getting regular gigs anymore, so I can't put too much money into this. Mixx looks really good if I'm starting from scratch, but I'll always keep a copy of SSL and Itch installed. (Because they're free) If I do start getting gigs, it's going to be Serato with the video plug-in. Drunk chicks love music videos.
