x1 issue

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if someone can explain why i cannot map the "shift" or "hotcue" buttons on my x1 as modifiers? it doesn't even give the option to learn those buttons.

Because it is done by the hardware.

Assuming IN button of your X1, SHIFT+IN or IN doesn't send the same data. Easier to map.

this. You can only use shift as a modifier in midi mode, and even then only by setting it up in Controller Editor. Neither shift nor hotcue actually sends any info to traktor.

ahh thanks for clearing that up. but damn. now i have two useless buttons.

one other thing i want to be able to do is map the master tempo to an encorder on the x1. any help on that?

They ain't useless, actually you have 2 more layers of control (hotcue only switches lower 16 buttons). You can set them to behave as toggle or momentary to fit your needs better. Think of them as global modifiers.

sorry still trying to get my head around this.

take the shift for example. it is a "modifier". how do i know what modifier to set each command to? is it automatically set up to be m1

i deleted all mappings in traktor for the standard x1 so i could have a blank template. did i delete something i shouldnt have?

It doesn't use a modifier from traktor, it's hardwired. When you press shift the X1 sends a different MIDI/NHL signal to Traktor.

example: play button normal > play pause
play button shift > deck key on/off

Hotcue button works in the same way but, like I said, only affects the blue buttons (while shift affects all buttons and knobs)

If you still have problems understanding it, it works in the same way as the shift key in your keyboard

yup, open traktor's preferences, navigate to the X1 tab and you will find it there
