I couldn't decide on bumping an old thread or making a new one so I decided to just post here.

I'm looking to buy a midi keyboard for home production and I'm looking for something $200 or less, I've narrowed it down to the Oxygen 49 or the Axiom 25 which do you guys recommend?

Without fader and knobs, Alesis Q25 and 49 are perfect and simple, good keybed with aftertouch. They also have Midi and not only USB.

I just bought an alesis q25 which so far seems great for such a low price.
However if i had extra money i would have bought the axiom 45.
    Looks great.

I'd be more apt to buy the 49 if it wasn't an extra 100 bucks from the 25 to the 49 so I think I'm just going to get the 25 seeing as how it's highly regarded.

I promise you, if you have any background in piano those keys will make you want to shoot yourself. They feel SO BAD. The extra money for the Novation SL MKII series justifies itself on the keys alone (theyre great on the SLs)

Really? I mean I learned how to play years ago, played for a short while - nothing too serious. Haha damn, and I thought I had found my 4th love.

Oh god haha theyre so horrible. Every keyboard I tried from M-Audio's range at Long and McQuade felt SO BAD. If you learned to play years ago the feel will still be in your fingers, and they will cry at the thought of playing one ever again after you first try it lol.

Novation's keys are excellent tho. And while I can't speak from experience, I hear that Akai makes a very nicely weighted keybed.

Then again, I'm huge on key quality. Apart from that, I've heard the Axiom series are decent.

P.S. I wrote this like an hour and a half ago, just forgot to hit Post reply.

For home use, when portability isn't an issue - I'd ALWAYS go for the Axiom 49:

[EDIT: Just seen the Axiom PRO for the first time. Are they worth the extra £'s?]
    DJ'ing: 2x1200MK2, DJM 850, Dicers, F1, Zomo MC-1000, Sony MDR-v700, i7 Win 10 HP Envy
Production: Ableton Live 8 and a mouse, Sennheiser HD400, Sony VAIO

The quasi-automap thing is nice, but the keys on all M-audio things suck, as I have previously stated.
