Im going to start slapping people...why do you need more than 2 usb ports? I play on serato and traktor scratch with timecodes and midi only and I have not had a problem with my macs not having enough usb ports. All you need is 1 soundcard and 1 controller. if you need more get a f'en hub...macbook pro can handle 3 to 4 midi controllers w/o a power adapter.

this is what i use when I need to hook up 2x X1'x and if i want to bust a mother ship...i can hook up my maschine too.

give it some time and we will be using thunderbolt hubs to hook up usb/firewire, display port and anything else Steve Jobs commands us to buy.

i can live with the two ports on my MBP. I don't mind having more, but 2 is bearable.

i5 for the base 13" model is nice vs the initial i3 rumor. other specs seem OK too ... nothing special, but OK. Thank god they didn't cut the backlit, as on the Air LOL !

let's see what the other models would be. 1440x900 screen for the 13" and 1680x1050 for the 15" would be nice. The disk drives options are still unknown too.

... all and all, I'm happy that this update keeps my late-2009 13" MBP pretty much up-to-date.

to be fair, apart from having filled the hard drive up with crap (soon to be fixed by optibay), my mid 2009 MBP still runs like new. This is one of the reasons I love macs over PCs!

Nothing that super exciting in the new update, and nothing as yet in lion that won't work fine with what I have. Don't get me wrong, I love new gear, but I love my current MBP too

I have a refurbished 2.4ghz 3gb ram "13 macbook from 2007 (I think) and it runs Logic+Traktor+Ableton+Photoshop all at once if i so desire with no issues (Touch wood)

When the time comes to upgrade, it will probably be one of these.

I use 3 at a minimum for trackball mouse, vci and sound card.... One of the main reasons i dont go mac is the 2 ports. I find having an external hub very annoying for 1199 they could throw in one more. I know its a small problem but its still a problem i have with macs.

You mite not find it a problem but i do.

If the new macs have 3 ill be first in the door to buy one.
    I play everything Indie/ Rock/ HipHop/ Cheese/ Electro/ Dubstep and anything that sounds good

    Tsp 1.7/ Tsp 2/ Sony vaio Win 7 4gb Ram / Macbook Pro 13 inch (Main machine) /vci 100 se/ mixdeck/ audio 8/ technics rph headphones/ Custom xBox Controller/ Akai Lpd8

Well the technology was invented and developed by Intel, so something tells me us PC heads have a whole lot of Light Peak joy coming to us in the not too distant future.

Intel even stated the first implementations of "Light Peak" are going to be all copper based cables, not the optical/copper hybrid that is making the technology so seductive...

I don't know weather or not these new Macs have the optical version of the Bus, but with Mac just loving to be the "first" to have something in their product, I would not put them past using the first, copper only, iteration.

Not trying to hate, its epic technology. Its going to change the way we interface our laptops, and indeed all computing devices.

This Light Peak is going to support 10gbps ethernet... PoE.. USB3.0... eSATA .... FireWire... HDMI...

It might even end hunger, and usher in world peace... Though that could be stretching it a bit.

Either way, cant wait for this to come out so manufacturer start getting on the "Light Peak" device hub train!
    I'm addicted to WoW.

Please do not bother me about being a productive member of society.

Lose the trackball (i did)...seriously 2 usb ports is all you need. Just map whatever you use the track ball.

If you saw all my dj gear and midi controllers you would vomit. My minimal setup is Audio 2 plus 1 X1 - for dvs its just 2 timecodes and the SL-1 or A8 and maybe a X1 or Dicers.

2 USB cuz Stone Cold Steve Austin said so!
