Changing a few knobs on the S4 ~possible?

Hey everybody, I was wondering if anybody could tell me, is it possible to switch a standard pot with an encoder without having to do any major alterations to the circuit design....

Specifically what I would like to do is switch the effects knobs on the S4 to encoders.....the reason being I hate having to reset the knobs so they match the software every time I change an effect......for me it would just be so much more logical if encoders were used here so I can just switch effects, hit reset, grab a knob and start tweaking......

You void the warranty just by opening the case of the S4. That said it could probably be done, but I'm not really sure. The better you are at hacking electronics the more likely you'll have success.

You can not change regular potentiometers with encoders.
Circuit desing is nothing compared to that you will have to reprogram your S4.
Not worth the effort,
buy BCR2000 if you need encoders or something.

very true, you would have to change the firmware of the S4 to tell it there were encoders in those spots now. Something that may be easy for NI to do, but next to impossible for anybody else to do.
