Which was recent enough to have a beta and be testing it. And his favorite mixer going with Traktor might explain why Q actually picked a side.

it might be a bit of stretch saying the 909 is Q's favorite mixer, the thing has been around for nearly 10 years, I'm a pretty big qbert nerd and up until recently I've never seen him on a 909. Craze adopted it from day one, which shows he's wants more than other battle mixers can offer, so it makes sense he jumped on the Traktor feature heavy bandwagon.

I do like the thinking of a link the appearance of the 909 in recent NI vids. But there is also a practical reason for using the 909 in the Breakfast with champions vid. A small amount of post fade reverb is used by Rafik at 50+ seconds into the vid and a touch of post fade delay at 1:58 is used by Shiftee. The use of post fade fx tidy's and adds something to the routine, there's only a couple of other obscure battle mixer's with said feature's but the 909 is the only obvious generic pro mixer for the job.

That said I still think there's potential for a more mysterious link as to why the 909 was first picked in that vid. The more I think about it the more it makes sense that the DJM T1 is aimed at knocking down the 57sl as the number 1 hybrid battle mixer. The current options are thin at best and I think the scratch world will be more willing to except a Pioneer battle mixer nowadays. At the time of 707/909 release 90% of scratch world had Vestax blinkers on and largely snubbed both mixer's despite there obvious pedigree. It was little more than 12 months after there release the 707 was discontinued and then shortly after the 909. One of my fellow dj's picked up a 707 for the original retail price of £580 a couple of days after it's release, 12 months later it was discontinued and being sold brand new for £270!

I am by far not a Q-bert nerd so if you say so.

Excuse me while I wander slightly of topic a sec, my guess on why Q has hung his hat on the side of Traktor is largely down to the timecode carrier signal, plus I think Rafik has done a bit of Traktor grooming. Ever since Rafik won the DMC he's appeared at Qberts Octagon on regular occasions. Then there's the forward thinking of NI's PR machine and Thud Rumble grabbing this great money spinning opportunity with both hands.

I think it was less than 6 months ago Q's Rane 57sl went for sale on ebay, at the time I thought it was a bit suspicious but I never thought we'd be seeing Q become a part of the NI hype machine, oh how I love reading the Serato forum after Q's TSP vs SSL comparison, so much hate and frustration.

Qbert, a long list of DMC champions and now Pioneer, thats a pretty amazing set of allies to have!

Don't worry, DJTT bylaw #37320 states that no discussion of Richard Quitevis, AKA Dj Qbert shall ever be considered off topic. It is also deemed appropriate for such discussions to shift towards health food, aliens, pyramids and world peace.

There is NO WAY that the T1 is going to be over $2k if it is 2ch mixer. The DJM900 Nexus is $1,999 which is their flagship 4ch club mixer. If I had to make a guess I'd say its going to be priced around $1,499 street.

When i first saw the DJM T1 entry in Setup Wizard (i have to say it was a few months back) i made a tentative enquiry to NI about it and i didnt get an answer.

I assumed it was a reference to the DJM Nexus midi mapping.

Its only now that Pioneers moderator has hinted at a new product that i believe its something new.
