The new Novation Twitch looks 100x cooler than a S4 if you ask me.

Thing is, you have to take into account what you are using the respective controllers for, what genre you're playing, and what your style is like.

Edited: Didn't realize you were speaking strictly on looks.

Questions I asked myself 6 months ago was "is this a hobby, or a passion? just for fun or do I want to create music/mixes?" this helped me set my budget.

I quickly learned that mixing isn't just the ability to "controlling every function". To make great music/mixes there is a lot to it (more then I even wanted there to be) lol. Word of advice if I can give you any, before you make your purchase... obsessively research and read. A lot of the other members on this board give great advice. While it is a great hobby, it gets addictive and expensive.

6 months into it and $2,000 later I finally have a setup I feel comfortable with..... for now . GL to ya!

Oh yea, I think the S4 will be a much sturdier and reliable controller, no less the ability the use inputs. But, on that note, if I was thinking for myself I would say the Twitch is a better controller, but then again that is just for me and my style

I would like to be able to mix hip hop beat tracks with some cool and weird effects. House and techno music are annoying after a couple of hours

When I first started, I was just using the keyboard with VDJ. The more I learned, the more I wanted to do, and the more I needed free hands. So I bought the Numark Total Control. I think that thing is great. Has helped me a lot and I've learned a lot more now since I've had it, but honestly, now I need more buttons/knobs because there is more that I want to do. I'm eventually going to get the S4, but if you dont have the money to drop on it right now, buy something a little cheaper. I bought my TC on eBay for $100. Bought the NI Audio 2 from best buy ($100), and got some Sony headphones ($50). I spent around $250-270 (taxes), and I like my setup, a lot. It helped get me started, but now I wish I had more. It's a process I guess.
