Also with my new 750GB I'll be able to move my collection of ripped DVDs (from DVDs i own, you understand, lol) onto my laptop and free up my external hard drive for something else. Like I dno, a massive collection of lolcats.
So far, I'm not really successful with my softlink/shortcuts/alias tests. It works with some apps, like iTunes, but it doesn't work fine with Traktor. I'm starting to think that this is not the proper way to do it.

Very likely, the most easy and hassle free solution would be to set the entire user's home to the non-ssd drive.

Alternatively, most applications could be set to use custom/non-default location. Like:
    * iTunes & Traktor can have their libraries configured from the "Preferrences" menu.
    * iPhoto's library can be changed with a hidden system setting
    * Safari/Firefox/Chrome can be set with a custom Downloads folder.
These are all one time settings, but have to be made on all applications one by one. I really like the way everything is working out-of-the-box on the Mac and that's not exactly the case with this approach.

    digging continues

Yeh, as it stands unless we find some magic fix I'll probably just do that.
