The Canadian artist was on the receiving end of a fist in Brisbane.

Concluding his Australian tour with a gig at Creamfields Brisbane over the weekend, deadmau5, AKA Joel Zimmermann, was attending the afterparty at Birdee nightclub. On the 2nd of May he tweeted, "Thank god for creamfeilds tonight, coz the music at the afterrparty is fucking god awful." Apparently, twittering about it wasn't enough for Zimmermann, who then complained to the DJ who was spinning at the time. Later, the DJ responded by punching Zimmermann in the head.

This resulted in two more tweets:

"birdee nightclub in Brisbane… opening DJ came at me later in the night and decided to punch me in the back of the head. #mistake"

"well the opening “dj” at the club decided to have a go at me. So fuck him and fuck that club. I left."

That's the story. Expressing your opinion is different than provoking. Telling your buddy that the music sucks is a lot different than going up to the DJ and telling him the music sucks. Saying that violence is always wrong is different than calling someone a pussy for thinking that violence is sometimes acceptable. One is expressing an opinion the other is being a dick and or trying to get a reaction out of someone. Sometimes the reaction will be a fist sometimes it will be shrugged off. I prefer to be polite thus avoiding possible beatdowns.

Cause I wasn't there --- but if someone said to me "hey you suck" and walked away I would ignore it. But if someone came into my booth and told me I had no clue what I was doing and was a shit DJ I would get right in his face and if that led to a punch in the head while he was fleeing...well then fuck him. He shouldn't have been there in the first place.

So I really don't know how it went down. I don't think you do either.

Opinions --- LOL. Your cute man. I'm entitled to my opinion!!!! Sure you are --- but the moment you express it incorrectly there are consequences for that. My opinion could be that you are a pole smoking coward punk, but that does not give me the right to yell that at you and then say "hey man, that's my opinion - you can't do anything to me for saying it"
Haze, i'm in no way like attacking you or saying anything against you. I truly believe from the bottom of my heart if someone SAYS something to you, and you have to swing back, then you are ... for lack of a better word ... a coward. Especially if their back is turned to you. I don't care who you are, or who it is. Even if it was Osama Bin Laden calling Gandhi out, I don't care. Hitting someone cause they said something is a coward move.

I think there's a big difference in someone how someone is "saying" something to you

I see you walking down the street and say "fuck you pussy, your mother's a cunt whore" and keep walking....well oh well who cares.

If i walk into your job, into your house, or sit at a table while your having dinner with your mom and say the same thing....I would expect you DO to something about it, and sometimes as a MAN doing something means putting your hands on me. It's called defending yours and your mothers pride.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing. I'm Cuban from Miami - we don't put up with shit talkers here, and I'm glad to see the Aussie didn't either.

I like the mau5 and how he lives his life in the open with not a care of what anyone thinks of him.

However I do see a spiraling crash coming as his antics are quickly catching up to him.

To big to fast perhaps!? this balloon is going to pop and he will hit the ground hard and fast.

Interesting news. Interesting responses. If I were the DJ and Deadmau5 came into my booth just to tell me my music sucked, I'd say he'd deserve a backhand.

It's not being a pussy, it's taking a stand and showing the guy that he can't do whatever he wants. For all we know Deadmau5 learned a lesson.

As for getting punched in the back of the head, I agree it's a pussy move. I'd at least wait for him to turn around so I could smack him in the face properly.

The reasoning is...if you don't like the music, you don't have to be there. Going up to the DJ in the middle of his set just to tell him that his music sucks is obviously a douche move and I'd completely understand if the Mau5 got hit for it. Beating him up would probably be too extreme but as I said...a good backhand to the face would do wonders for his inflated ego.

One of the deterrents to being an asshole is that someone may, as we say in the south, whip your ass. The internet ruins said asshole's social skills to the point that they act like an asshole in public and take an ass whipping. Shit happens. The pussification of the american male sometimes makes me sick. The vast majority of us are afraid of a fight, do anything we can to avoid a fight, can't do any sort of physical work (but we can work out and look like we aren't to be fucked with), are afraid of physical work etc etc....
Sorry about the rant, I have an employee that is kinda one of those pussified (for lack of a better term) american males working for me, he seriously angered me today, but he's the apache (an oilfield company) construction foreman's grandson so I cant really fire him...

But yeah, punching someone for being an asshole isn't really the best thing, but it happens and the sight of it keeps other assholes in check for fear of getting beat up.

    And deadmouse sucks
