I know your just trying to provoke things a little, i was a tiny bit offended hahabut on the other hand you are kinda right! Checked out your soundcloud, nice mix man!
But to get back on topic, i agree with a lot of you guys on letting the track and the crowd decide on how long a track should run. If the crowd is just chilling out i let the track run untill the point which will give me the most exiting switch, preferable while mixing it over harmonicly.
4-6 mins plus epic digweed style transitions, cos i'm so awesome

play the 20 minute version for the two mother fuckers that understand it
I play mainly tech-trance and sometimes electro/dubstep/harder styles depending on the gig/party/mood!! Sometimes i only use one loop out of a track or a few seconds depending on what im feeling.
I guess this thread doesnt apply to my style of music and I suppose if you were playing top 40 you'd probably play most of the track unless it was killing the dancefloor

I agree, as a progressive and minimal dj myself its about a minute and a half either side to mix in and out, and i usually play the whole song... that being said my favorite song to play out at the moment is omid 16b-rain, which is 12 minutes and the crowd usually fucking loves the fact it just goes on and on!
Usually I play most of the song in my sets, unless the set requires something different.
