S4 is very mobile compared to CDJ's and a mixer. On top of the fact that you can do more. My advice would be to pick up an S4. Then when you have some more money tucked away to get the scratch upgrade and purchase some used CDJ's

Huge vote for the S4. I recently got back heavily into DJ'ing after a long hiatus and got the S4. I used to use Traktor 3 a bit years ago. There was something so familiar / comfortable with the S4 from day 1. Because it's designed by NI and matches the software, the work flow feels perfect to me. I love how you can browse with an encoder on the S4 and then hit load without ever touching your laptop. You can also press the browse encoder while I track you might load is highlighted and it will play in your headphones so you can check it out.
As far as mobility is concerned, the S4 is great. I highly recommend buying the S4 flight case. The top slides back and makes a great laptop stand. It has straps for your laptop so you can leave it in the case too when you travel. All you need to do is plug the USB from the S4 to your laptop and your speaker cables from the output and you are rocking. No audio interface needed.
I couldn't be happier with it. I also say that a digital controller like this is the way of the future. I'm sure CDJ's will be around for a long, long time but to me it seems to make sense that eventually they'll start to fade too like turntables as controllerism gains steam / acceptance.
Why not get on the train early?
Now if you do decide to go the CDJ route, I will recommend the Behringer DDM. I actually have that and loved it when I used it. Not sure where you live, but I could sell it to you for a very reasonable price. It's in perfect condition...
Good luck!
