Re-read my post. I stated that not all painters, DJs, whatever, are artists. I didn't say shit about who decides exactly who qualifies. You're not bothering to read what I'm writing.

No, I did understand what you were saying, I just think it is the same kind of discussion on a different level. Both discussions are about some hierarchical subdivision but without proper definitions for the hierarchically higher groups
(and terminology without definitions seems quite worthless to me)

Blaming a guy for playing other people tracks is stupid. Do you blame an achitect for not create his own bricks ? No you don't.
I think that as long as you involve enough in your set, and not only go from deck A to deck B but put some feelings in it, create intense build ups etc., you can be considered a musician, and not a basic DJ anymore.
