Nope - I don't even know how to right-click on mine..

Push on button - start traktor - end traktor - close lid

Wait. You respect your girlfriend enough not to ask if she has a different preference / opinion to you?

I'm not sure you know what respect means.

As much as i love my mac, and the fact that it is a workhorse... i think mines is a bad egg....

Mines is a 17" hybrid hdd, 3.06ghz, 4gb ram, and it gets pretty slow at times... and it gets REALLY hot.

I also use a 13" from the same generation its basically a base model and that thing is like 10 times faster then mines. no real heat probs, etc... got a lot more probs but i can live with them.

Otherwise i agree, macs are generally workhorses, and usually have no probs... Just dont get a 17" because a few friends with newer gen 17" mbp are also having some ridiculous problems aswell.

That's really weird. I haven't heard that complaint since the notorious thermal paste incident I fell victim to in 2008 that netted me a new computer.

If a lot of people are having problems with that particular one, you might want to research it. If it's systemic or a known issue and it's under warranty, you should be able to get it fixed at least or get a new one for free if necessary.

That is–of course–assuming you haven't done anything to cause those issues…which doesn't seem too likely if it's as bad as you say. I could be wrong about that, though.

Was it always like that or have the problems show up more recently?

Reboot cleans out memory afaik, which log off, log on doesn't.

Can anybody elaborate on the right way to setup a DJ account on a Mac? I tried it once, had to reset permissions, cuz I screwed it up.

Also, I'm working on a nice guide to have one account for multiple purposes. Will post this as soon as Lion is out, because I will do a clean install.

The Thermal issue has been reproduced at the genius bar and the guy said it was normal... My laptop was at 174~ ish (celcus) and the "Genius" was like that reading wasnt accurate because it wasn't taken directly on the graphics chip or processor... (it would of been higher if it was taken there)

one of the worst "geniuses" ive been too as well... I was also having problems with USB dropouts after any slight wiggle of the usb connection, i took my sl3 for him to see and instead of wiggling it at the computer he was wiggling where the usb connected to the sl3 (and he was doing it very violently to the point where my friend let him know if he broke my sl3 he would be held responsible)

Like ive said, if you pull up the file on my laptop at the apple store you will find that ive called and visited the genius bar many times.

BTW im currently out of warranty, it was purchased late 09, however i do give them credit for still taking a look at it when i go to the genius bar...

(Also keep in mind, i got another macbook and an imac, so its not that im doing something wrong or that i dont know how to use a mac, its just a bad egg)
