Any mention of wifi routers or internet is irrelevant, a wireless ad hoc network is a decentralized type of wireless network. The network is ad hoc because it does not rely on a preexisting infrastructure, such as routers in wired networks or access points in managed (infrastructure) wireless networks. Instead, each node participates in routing by forwarding data for other nodes.
So, do you have any thoughts of your own, or are you going to plagiarize the whole wikipedia page for us?

The answer to your legitimate question is simple…I brought it up because he said wifi wasn't stable and brought up his home internet connection as an example.

His experience is a polar opposite to my own and basically has nothing to do with potentially using an ad hoc network with TouchOSC or whatever he's trying to use.

    That's why.

It helps if you read things instead of copying and pasting halfway related content that someone else wrote.

wow, pipe down. no need to get rude with your keyboard, it only makes your knob get smaller.

i evidently didn't read the thread properly. my bad.

what's wrong with using information from wikipedia? i do already know how to set up an ad hoc network on a mac; i've set one up for my iPod at the moment. but i don't think i could articulately describe it in an easy to understand manner. my fault i'm a retard.

i've got to source information somewhere, and seeing as this isn't english class, and your definatly not my english teacher, and i'm not using this information to intentionally gain anything, i don't see what's wrong in the slightest by using information from another website. especially at the time of writing if i think it will help someone understand something.

but hey, anyway, whatever, your right. well done
    peace
