I'm not saying that magnets can destroy hard drives, I'm saying that those in your average little speakers are unlikely to do anything and that most studio monitors and such are magnetically shielded.

Unlikely, but i still wouldn't take the chance. If i was playing out and then my hard drive went blank the crowed wouldnt be to happy would they ??

Also it doesn't just go blank from small amounts of magnetism.

uhmm those speakers my dads old high end AR18EJ52242, and thanks for the tip, but i have to put my laptop on there otherwise it overheats as the cooler is underneath

Dark spots, it was a huge woofer my buddy made and a small file for the OS went bad. Maybe it's a coincidence though.

in case you were wondering, yes. there are speakers next to the DJ set, and there's a sub under the table. as far as producing goes, I still am doing my downmixes on headphones - until I can afford a pair of adam a8x's.
