If theres a peice of hardware thats causing DPC latency issues the solution is pretty simple - just go into the device manager and turn off the drivers for that device or alternativly get new drivers that done have DPC latency issues.

My Dell came with DPC lattency issues with factory settings, infact nearly all computers come with DPC lattency issues with factory settings. It takes optimisations to bring these into check.
I promise you Bento that we tryed very hard to get the xps going without latency issue. Disabled every service and performed all the steps of a very good optimization guide... no good results. Still had latency issue, not as bad as the one shown on the pic above but very similar.

I can talk for the XPS, but have heard similar comments from the Studio model. And have seen a couple of djs playing with traktor and an Inspiron without notice any issues.

Try the Studio range laptops that are basicly the same thing with a weaker videocard, you will save yourself heaps of $ for a pc that is equally as powerful.

I for instance bought the best dell inspiron i could afford (studio's wernt out at that stage) and got an equally powerful computer for making music as if i spent $4k on an XPS.

Oh yeah... after tweaking out my Vista instal Traktor pro and other audio programs run like a dream without crashing. Take care of your PC and it will take care of you

MBP you will never go back to a PC after that. IMO for me my computer is a massive part of my life, something I use every day, and will be using the same one for at least 2-3 years if not more. Personally the extra money is therefore justified, (id just spend it on drugs and junk food anyway, lol).

Ive had so many windows laptops, and I must say, I will never ever get one after I bought my MBP. Simple reason, its never ever bailed on me. For Production AS for djing. (Knock wood!)

I have to add though, that I never tried an Alienware or a laptop that was actually MADE for making music on, only those IBM's, Toshibas and the Dells, and they were'nt any good to me

If ya got the extra cash to spare, or can wait to save up some, then I can warmly recommend the MBP (And believe me, I aint no fanboy, I love my Quad PC for making music on!)

i'm currentlu running Traktor Pro 1.1.1 on both my Dell Inspiron 6400, and my XPS m1730 - both systems are running OS X 10.5.6, vanilla installs with updatability direct from the Apple software updater located in the apple menu.

    flawless.

i run OS X exclusively on the 6400, and i have seperate HDD's for OS X and a super slim version of XP Pro SP2 that i made specifically for running Ableton on.

nothing wrong with a Dell. and they're the preferred 'Hackintosh' system.
