correct - it only sends standard midi messages.

which works fine in the way that I have it implemented. I use a shift button to turn the pitch fader into a 'pitch range' control (I also have an encoder setup on another controller to do the same). In practise, it means I can easily change how sensitive the pitch fader is on my XP10 to accurately beatmatch dnb records or change tempo drastically so I can do some crazy beatmatching with some nu-breaks/dubstep tunes

Digital Controllers are more portable, give you more function for the price and are fun to use with lots of cool features. Screw what everyone else thinks.... End of Story

Compared to CDJ and TT, then yes controllers are more portable in size.

But of course you could post an example of a CDJ that's smaller than e.g. the S4. Not that I find it likely to happen but w/e :P The point is that generally midi controllers are smaller, more lightweight than your typical CDJ setup.

Laptop is pretty much the same as if you bring your own CDs or Vinyl

Random pictures to proof my point:

Every DJ locally in my area if they use CDJ's they still use thier CD sleeves. Also alot of clubs around my area still have not updated to the 900, 2000's

I just recently bought a TT, not dissing traditional set ups at all. Just stating what I see most often
