how to get that dubby synth sound
Hey DJTT! I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get that dubby synth delay sound you hear on pretty much every dub techno release, deepchord etc. I'm using Ableton Live 8. Thanks!

Really simple actually, Just find a nice chord stab in the C2 to C3 range, and then from there it's all about your FX chain. You can tweak your chain as needed but a basic one is;
Chorus>EQ>Delay>Verb>Compressor
You want a real subtle Chorus, just enough to help give it some texture.
With the EQ you're taking out some of the lows and accenting the mids and highs.
With the delay you're looking for a 3/8's delay usually, 30 to 40% wet and a feedback around 25 to 30%
Reverb is really subtle but bit longer. Looking for 30 to 40% and then for the length looking for anywhere between a bar to two bars.
And then the compressor glues it all together, usually a ratio no higher than 4 to 1 and the threshold you'll have to tweak yourself.
Remember, this is just a basic starting point, you tweak to taste until you find what you like and then have at it.

I know what it is, just no idea why you would want it for a dubby synth sound
