    Mac here..

I'v came from a Windows based background since Windows 95 and when i started Graphic Design a few years ago i did the switch and to be honest I had to sit for months trying to get Traktor to work on my Desktop and Laptop and even at one point it was playing music in reverse. Purchased a Macbook (since upgraded to another Macbook and also an iMac) and plug and play.

Keyboard shortcuts etc are so much easier, navigating my way round Mac OS is easier also. Just feels so much better.

Also for the record my windows based desktop and laptop was high spec at the time.

I use an Asus i5 laptop from last year - work well enough , though I have to turn wireless and ACPI battery monitoring off to avoid pops in the audio,

Always used windows OS. To be fair to win 7 the audio side of things is vastly improved and I've never had any issues with any of my audio gear.

I think macs are nice and all but WAY overpriced for what they are. For that reason I use windows(and it helps that I get all the software for free as part of work agreement!!)

This, although I've been surprised at how many people I've seen running it windowed+maximized (both here and while trainspotting in clubs).

And back on topic, I think James Holden and Kerri Chandler have to be the only big names I've seen DJing with windows laptops (two of them at the same time for KC).

Isn't ASIO native to mac? If so - I would say that would be one bonafide advantage mac has for DJing.

Another benefit is that you don't have multitudes of different hardware configurations that may behave differently with the software.

    :shrugs:

    A couple Windows pluses...

    *Win7 seems uber stable now.

*You can build a pretty wicked machine for a good price

No, it's for Windows. OSX doesn't need it because CoreAudio is an incorporated API. You've got it backwards.

Word thanks. Seems like a great, legit mac benefit imho.

Fuck yeah linux! except I can't fucking work out how to get tf2 and diablo 2 working on my desktop. Oh well I guess I'll make use of the windows 7 licence I have as soon as I can find an install DVD.
