I don't get pinching the spindle. It's a pain in the ass to do if you have a turntable with more torque.

Also I don't get those who don't touch the vinyl or platter either- you have to offset your pitch fader to do it and just hope you get it back to where it was before which sucks if you were perfect before. You can't say that touching the vinyl + platter is too clumsy in comparison either because there are techniques which allow incredibly fine control, such as lightly brushing your fingertips over the label (seriously, hardly even make contact) in a circular motion.

+ if you're finding touching the platter too aggressive a way of slowing down the track you just need to work more on your light touch.

just because you don't get it...doesn't mean it's wrong...those of us that played or are currently playing vinyl have all found techniques that work for us individually...

use whatever works best for you...there is no "right" way to do it...only using the pitch fader never worked for me...i thought it was clumsy as far as i was concerned...

    whatever works for you...do it...

Yeah, I understand that! I mean I do a few things that may not make complete sense but hey, whatever works.

    Just vocalising my thoughts
