    I think I'd rather be patient and not have solder all over the connection
    points, just for an upgrade. I do think the upgrade kit would be best if it had a usb connection instead of a dated serial input.

    Well, of course if you're used to soldering, this is probably nothing to freak out about...

    But since I don't have several hundred hours of experience, still am nervous... did practice on another board before too

    And yes, this is straight USB, the serial converter is in the cable itself (a chip).

    This is the pre-end result... female part will be screwed in the back panel... don't have my drill in my dorm :S

    Second picture is the cable... it has the links between ground pins and vcc pins... this way when the cable is unhooked, it's not stuck in boot mode!

    Also have to glue the connections
