If you don't have the correct answers for any of those questions or even have to think about them, you aren't ready to do this, and you are putting yourself in a position to fail. Not only that, but potentially ruin the biggest day in the life of your friend, but 1000 times moreso, in the life of his fiance. Hope your ready to have a possible strain in that friendship.
That's all correct if he were setting up to be a for-hire wedding DJ, but as its a one off for a friend who (hopefully) knows what music he plays, maybe it'll be a bit different. I think it's a pretty narrow-minded idea of a wedding you've laid out. I'd certainly never have ANY of the things you listed at my wedding, except maybe 1st dance. It might be more of a party than a traditional affair.

A wedding is all about the bride. Talk to her, get some sort of playlist figured out.
Get a must play and a dont play list and work it out from there.
Oh and google worst wedding songs as well.
    Good luck with the bridesmaids

See, you're not understanding what a reception is about though. It's not about what the bride or groom want. The actual wedding is for them. The reception is all about their GUESTS. Everything I mentioned is more or less pageantry for the newlywed's guests. The DJ's job is to cater to everyone there.

Have to agree with everyone else.

I have DJ'd a wedding before and if they don't know the song they won't want to hear it. It's about top 40/classics/requests.

Weddings are never ever about the DJ.

Found this site from a google search. Maybe not every song on the list is a keeper but it should definitely give you some ideas for a set list http://idodiscos.co.uk/playlist.html

It's 100% about what the bride and groom want. It's their party. Its their money. They want the guests to have a good time. They know their guests better than you.
The DJs job is to do what they were hired for. If its to play only certain songs, then play certain songs. If the brief is to get people dancing by any means necessary, then you've got leeway to be creative.
To not get a brief is to set yourself up to fail.

It's about loving good music and knowing what "cheese" are actually great tracks.

Come On Eileen played at the right moment in a set always works

My Baby Just Cares for me early on in the night often sets the right mood.

Salt N Peppa and Cameo... etc

It may be a cultural thing, but at every wedding I've been to (including the ones I've DJ'd at), this is all the DJ has had to do.
