Default Novation Twitch for Ableton Live

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLbibADLa80

Novation released their "Live Twitch Translator" which lets you do some fancy stuff with those fancy Twitches. This looks pretty sweet.

Wish I spent that $500 on a Twitch rather than my APC40.

the twitch does look awesome and i'd love to get one sometime, unless something better/different comes along.

what i still don't get tho is quite what the translater app does? i guess it sits between the twitch and ableton like bomes or my midimasher does but what makes the midi that the twitch sends natively not compatible with mapping in ableton already? it must do something ofc and the midi-geek in me would like to find out what

ah - i might have just worked out what. the doc says it's written in "Cycling 74 Max/MSP software" so that then should give the app access to way more than normal ableton over midi?

Yes, the LiveAPI for Max is somewhat extensive, allowing a lot of advantages over Ableton's MIDI mapping.

the only version of live that i have is 5 - except for the cut down version that came with my launchpads. the price for the full live8 is scary - never mind if i wanted msp too i need to spend some time trying to learn my 5 or 8le more sometime tho...

Really? I was thinking about going down the apc route and dumping my mixtrack, the only advantage I can see with twitch is track navigation (touchstrip),pots, and perhaps the pre-made mappings. IMO the apc seems to be more of a blank slate for customization. Plus I already have a launchpad so It'd be sweet to have extensive traktor control and total ableton control. Just my 2¢

i guess for the standard clip launching an apc40 is going to beat the twitch, but if u don't already own max/msp then the twitch comes with this new intermediary software that gives u access to more in ableton that u can ever get via midi mapping from the apc40.

i'd say that a launchpad+twitch would be an amazing combination for ableton control - best of both worlds

ofc u could also use the launchpad for traktor too - esp if using my midimasher as then you're not limitted to only sending/receiving data from one app, so can use both ableton and traktor at the same time.

launchpad+apc40 seems like a heck of a lot of pads to me. i can't talk tho really as i now own two launchpads for me an apc40 over a launchpad wouldn't make sense anyway, i'd def go for the twitch if i could afford it.
