Did you first compile it without alsa=yes? I believe you have to delete the folder you unpacked the tar.gz into and then restart. At least I did when I changed my mind about JACK. There might be a more elegant solution, I dunno.
Yes I am running as sudo and yes I compiled with "ALSA=yes". Though when I check
    Code:
    ./configure
it says alsa is disabled. ಠ_ಠ It still works though after I install it.

Also, the folder I compiled in shouldn't really do anything since I install it to /usr/local (using the prefix), No?

I haven't touched the latency or buffer sizes so I assume it's 8ms.

NO! You're supposed to have all the answers I need! I demand a refund. :P

Seriously though thanks for the help so far, I am at least running 1.0 now. I have a feeling the xrunxs are a cause of something to do with the FLAC decoder (mp3s are fairly solid even in non-realtime) or maybe just the weight of 11.10 is too much for my shitty laptop.

Do you have the problems only when the deck is loading a new track? I don't believe the decoders are employed at all unless currently loading a non wav. track.

Hm nope I guess it's not the decoders then.
Edit: I'm going to try US 10.04RT

US 10.04 with RT and 1.0 is solid!
I couldn't get it to give me any xruns with FLAC or MP3
    I tried:

Only annoying thing is my music collection is on the other partition so I have to go -l /media/HUGE-FUCKING-DRIVE-NAME-W/ RANDOM-NUMBERS/home/nick/music/folder1

...and repeat with each folder. Ugly. But works great!

Awesome dude! How did you install the real time kernal?

To xwax there's no difference between any file type. It's cool like that :P

edit: That's quite a nice theme! Is that xfce?

I uh... upgraded it from US9.10 which came with it (and then it upgraded for me when I went to 10.04). This goes back to me being lazy.

Well it was certainly more xruns-prone with FLAC. *shrug*

Pretty sure it's just regular gnome, but it's the default Ubuntu Studio theme -- at least in this version.

Huh, odd. Doesn't look like gnome 2 or gnome shell to me.
