New Top! RCF? Mackie? JBL??

It's just such a hassle to get all the parts needed and to actually build this many sets of speakers. I really don't want all that extra work. Thanks for the idea, though!

On a more specific note regarding the RCF, Mackie, and JBL speakers: What kind of sound am I going to get out of the RCF and JBL's?

Building doesn't make sense for everyone, some people don't have the time and space to do it and there is something to be said for having nice finished looking production speakers (as opposed to a lot of the diy looking caps I see people haul around) that just work right out of the box.

I love my 2x JBL Eon 515's... Have good enough lows to keep me over until i can add a sub to the mix..

AND THEY ARE LIGHT!!! Ezsiest speakers I have ever transported in my life. I think they come in around 12lbs'ish each.. Go with the JBL's if you have the option, my $.02

However, you can still have someone build you those speakers for a fraction of the cost of commercial speakers. Not to mention they sound way better. And cosmetically they look the same as commercial speakers.

If the guy wasn't on a budget he would just buy whatever he wants. Since he's trying to maximize his money, then why not consider it?

He's running a pro sound business, so he can easily get twice as many speakers going the custom route, and have multiple systems, for the same price. And since the product is sound, wouldn't you want the best speakers you can get for your budget?

I would have told you Mackie...if this was 10 years ago and they were still building their cabinets in America.

Since moving their operation to China, their quality has gone to shit.

I've had 5 Mackie SRM450s that I've owned for over 13 years. One problem, ever. 've heard nothing but horror stories with the new builds.

Where can you get the cabinets built properly? Seems like you would kind of be taking a chance with some local company to build cabinets for you, I mean they look like there is some precise wood work involved to get them right and looking up to par and if you went with a certified builder on their site and had them shipped it seems like you would end up paying a ton and there is uncertainty as to the finished quality plus wait time.

Own a pair of 312a's and can't fault them. Use then with a RCF pro 8002as sub and the sound is superb.

Recently played with a band who were using FBT Maxx 4a's and i was very impressed with the sound. Incredibly light too. The maxx series are certainly worth checking out.

They have several certified builders across the us, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was one within an hours drive for most people. If you ask around, I'm sure someone would be happy to have you come by and hear theirs. Many people do.
