I'm a big fanboy, it is incredibly easy and incredibly complex at the same time, I'm mapping the VCI 400SE as we speak and I don't even need to use a controller to get what is in my head in the code, and I don't need any firmware updates to make it work

VDJ8's gonna be awesome

VDJ has earned the title of "people who think they can DJ because they bought 20$ software on a computer" or at least in my DJ community it has. Basically everything is better in Traktor compared to VDJ. Stability, operations, i think every category Traktor is far better than VDJ. Then again, just my opinion, and probably a lot of other people on DJTT (no i don't speak for all of you! lmao)

I'm not a VDJ fan (lovely called "Virtual Vidange" in here (french)), BUT I appreciate few things in it though
- Do everything (Audio, Video, Karaoke, shed load of file format)
- works with "everything" you have on hand

not anymore I'm afraid....

the script possibilities are almost endless, but far more indepth than traktor, there is no limit on how many varibles you can have, and every action is performed consecutivley so you can do two, ten or a hundred things at the same time with the touch of a button. I have made the following with script
• a midi fighter mapping with more included than is possible for djtt to impliment.
• a slicer exactly the same as twitch.
• a virtual synthesizer that alows you to create a piano roll in a DAW, then through the use of 46 cues and some smart mapping, it queries the playing tracks key and inteligently plays only the notes of the corresponding key, so for 14 pads/keys/buttons you can play two octaves of sounds for any musical key. It will also move through the track setting the appropriate cues and return to the current position in a split second with no audio glitches even when the track is playing.
• hot loops, which aren't native, but through mapping it was possible

I have been able to chain effects exactly the same as your jesus reincarnate if the effect has a wet/dry, vdj's effect library has recently become very strong and very complete thanks to Duen Duen's amazing plugins, he is also implimenting every effect in pioneers arsenal. You can also use vst's for much cleaner sounding effects than any dj software provides.

There is 99 cue points to do anything you wish with, 99 decks that can be utilised as samplers exactly the same as traktors or you can just use the built in one which loops, beatlocks and one shots.

I have not had a crash that wasn't caused by a poorly created vst, if something does crash it I delete it straight away.

You can run timecode, any thing that sends midi, it has native HID support. Video, dmx integration, txt msg to screen, it can use any soundcard you have, you can use multiple soundcards, it works as a rewire master etc...

as I have said in another thread the only thing vdj doesn't have is a cool name, and the default skin looks a little cheap.

synthet1c, have you any mixes online i could have a listen to where you utilise these effects? I'm intrigued!
Another VDJ 7 fan here, its easy as hell to get the hang of, easy as hell to map, and its my main " Go To" software if im just gonna jump on and do an hours mess about at home

you just need to download the registry tool, then change the "default scratch latency" to below 1020, mine is set around 980 I think

here is a video from Huey explaining how to do it, and it's affect on scratching performance

In regard to the effects, you just activate them in order of the signal flow you want and make sure they are set on dry, I should mention though that this doesn't work on effects that use the buffer eg beatmasher's and rolls, only realtime audio effects, but you are not restricted to 4 effects you can run the flow indefinately, I have a button to activate all my effects in order or turn them all off, the flow goes

3 band equalizer - pristine quality vst, frequency adjustable
lp/hp filter - pristine quality vst, 13 sliders for ultimate adjustability
mute - vst, kills the signal flow to allow the delays and echo's to fade
trans - cut on beat
gate - will cut the sound below a set threshold
lfo filter - same as the hp/lp filter, but a duplicate instance of the dll
crusher - standard
delay - pristine vst
ping pong delay - Duen Duen
reverb - pristine vst
echo - Duen Duen, beatsynced
echo freeze - Tex_ZK
tape stop - vst that doesn't stop the track and sounds amazing
stretch - vst, sounds amazing
loop roll - Tex_ZK

I'm not restricted to only those effects, but that was the best flow I have found, and anything else I activate doesn't need to be in the flow.

Id never even considered using better EQ's with VST's before you said that, and it would be so easy to map the controller... Thanks for that bit of info alone!

where do you get the registry tool from?
