    Default S2 Macbook speaker output?

I just bought my first piece of kit, the S2 last night and am loving it. I do have a question about routing audio.

For on the go practice, is there any way I can have the master output come through my Macbook's speakers while still being able to plug my headphones into the S2 to cue up tracks?

I had assumed this was possible but haven't been able to adjust the settings to exactly what I'm looking for. Any and all help would be appreciated.

You can run a lead from your s2's out into the macbooks line in, thats gonna be the only way to do it i think, if you want headphones working.

Alright, I'd be willing to do that but, the model of Macbook I have (Late 2011) has the dual input/output headphone plugin port.

I tried to do that last night with an RCA to standard headphone size cable but don't know how to configure that properly so the audio comes out through the speakers.

this is not a good idea for two reasons. first, external speakers for as little as $10-20 are gonna be superior to your MB's internal speakers. second, routing the master signal through your MB's onboard audio will lead to latency problems.

I just want to alleviate as many external things to bring aside from the computer and controller when just wanting to mix for friends. Also using the least amount of wall AC adapters would be optimal.

My macbook has separate in and out, its from july 2011, have they changed them? Is it a mbp? Thinking about it,you might need another piece of software to make it run through, a sample app or ableton or something like that. Have you got any other sound software that lets you record?

I have an audio 8 so Ive never had to try something like this. Im sure you could do it though

Yeah, the Late 2011 version that shipped with Lion only has one shared port for input and output through a standard sized headphone jack. I have a friend with the July 2011 which has two so I know what you mean.

As far as other software goes, I do have Live installed but haven't touched it yet.

Just plug the usb in and change it to core audio, you wont be able to cue with headphones but that's what you get for not going big :P

Would something like SoundFlower/SoundFlowerBed be able to make this work?
