You have literally no idea what you're talking about on that one. Traktor has more headroom than any analog mixer if you set up your gain stages correctly. It's just that NI doesn't believe in meters, so it's really easy to do it wrong even if you do know what you're doing.

You know I don't see why they ain't using ableton for that. Seems like a much more obvious choice for what they are trying to do.

I like how pretty their setups are, and there are some things that are cool about Traktor Pro, but……part the reason I sold my TPro setup was that I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Abeleton Live is more powerful with better effects and more reliable syncing b/t your DJ stuff and Maschine. In addition to my DVS setup, I'll probably end up with an all-controller setup again pretty soon. But it'll be based on Live + Maschine instead of Traktor + Maschine because it's just plain simpler.

That is…if it doesn't end up just as easy to integrate Maschine with turntables. I really need to get around to buying something to put it on so I can really try that.

I remember running a TPro + Ableton system at some point for about a week…until I realized that Traktor was basically useless.

Im struggling to figure out how many more inputs folks think it needs.. Theoretically, u could have something like 4 tts, 4 cdjs, 1 maschine and 4 usb inputs.. What am i missing? Is it the lack of send/returns on it?

If somebody needs more inputs than this than quite franctly this probly isnt an ideal piece of equipment nor would most dj mixers id imagine..

On the db4? Where are you going to plug in the 3rd turntable, let alone the 4th?

As for ideal pieces of equipment for more inputs…the Rane 2016, vestax pmc-500, pmc-cx, and pmc-55 blow it out of the water. So does the xone:92 that it kind of replaced.

It's not even that it's a serious functional limitation, but a voluntary step back for no good reason.

As far as multicores go If I'm going to use timecode I'm just going to use timecode and if I was really desperate to play a record I would use thru in traktor before dealing with the mess that are multicores.

Because it's easier to actually touch the computer, find a button on the interface, and click it than it is to flip a switch that's been on just about every mixer made since the 80s?

What mixer has the ideal input matrix that would satisfy close to everybody out of curiousity? The dnx1700?

PMC-CX. Probably the most feature-rich mixer I can think of. Unfortunately, they discontinued it because it was unpopular. But even the Urei 1620 has more matrix-assignable inputs than the db4 and can run more phono preamps (though doesn't have them by default).

That's just sad.

So you mean that you can set the headroom in Traktor for what, 9 dB and that exceeds every other mixer out there? Well, nice that the headroom is more than any analog mixer, but you must agree with me that if you use like for instance the Reverb or the Delay with max. feedback, your Master meter is close to red, if it isn't red already...

I've tried this method (External FX routing) on a Xone 22 and damn, it worked and it didn't clip like it used to be in Traktor.

But all of this isn't a problem anymore, since I'll be soon a DB owner.

ive never used more than 2 tts so bear in mind i may have no idea what im talking about.. But didnt they just add the preamp option to the 2 line inputs to allow for 2 more tts? Or is that garbage?

Yeah with the new firmware you can run 4 TTs with soft RIAA option enabled which is pretty cool and works very well. Not that I would ever run 4 but there is the occasional DJ who uses 3 vinyl turntables.

Except it's not simple - those soundcards (at least, the older ones like the SL1 or the Audio DJ 8) require that the mixer have four inputs for two decks. This mixer doesn't, so you have to do one of the workarounds, and it's still not ideal. Seriously, switching between DVS and regular vinyl should be a no brainer in any setup, even if there are a lot of people who would stick only to DVS.
